Teachers of today need to be life-long learners. Change is exponential and traditional modes of training cannot keep up with the wealth of information the digital age provides. Conversation and communication - learning communities- are replacing the traditional linear pre-service models of training. Increasingly, teachers are learning together "just in time" to solve real-world problems as they arise. In this talk we will look at communities of practice as a framework for continuing professional development and knowledge creation. We will consider the theoretical underpinnings of CoP's and then discuss concrete examples of best practice.
