Limited Capacity seats available

This presentation focuses on two aspects of constructed response scoring. First, it will discuss how ETS scores the TOEIC Speaking test and other constructed response assessments in order to ensure fair, reliable, and consistent scoring. We will look at the processes ETS uses to ensure that human raters score each response accurately. Then, by listening to test-taker responses and looking the rubrics ETS raters use to score responses, we fill focus in greater detail on the process of assigning scores to responses. The audience will have the opportunity to practice scoring responses using rubrics. Then, we will discuss the connections between responses, rubrics, and student feedback. The presentation will conclude with a consideration of how rubrics can be used and modified in the classroom to provide ongoing self- , peer-, and instructor-led feedback to students.
