With Krashen's take on comprehensible input (CI) he started a marvelous change in the world of language teaching. Most teachers, while aware of CI and its history, are still grasping onto old content and methodologies. We are going to jump into discussion about how grammar-translation, old-textbooks and content are currently impacting the average classroom and what we can do about it. Incorporating authentic materials both through reading and listening are the main ways that students can fully acquire a second language. Since each language learner has a different learning style, language ability, and interests we will discuss how to differentiate comprehensible input. This is possible by increasing diverse input and paving the way for students to practice outside of the classroom as well through various compelling channels. Together we will explore how to best set up your classrooms for complete and total language acquisition based off of comprehensible input.
