Gamification is the use of game mechanics to increase involvement and participation in non-game contexts. Specifically, gamification can be crucial for the educator, as such a pedagogical tool can encourage and provide incentives for students to engage in the learning process. In fact, gamification has already been successfully implemented in other fields, most notably business, and research of gamification in education has already led to positive results. Coupled with technology, gamification can revolutionize the way in which educators engage with students in the classroom. Therefore, this session will focus on practical methods of gamification and how to implement it in order to produce a more involved student body. In doing so, gamification can reduce the burden on educators by encouraging students to take education into their own hands by properly piquing their curiosity for knowledge.
